Transformer Oil Reclamation and Processing
PSS Field Services includes transformer oil reclamation. Our reclaim rigs, can perform transformer oil processing on energized transformers up to 230 KV, have processed millions of gallons of oil and prolonged the life of thousands of transformers. Our large rigs can perform hot oil reclamation on transformers up to 50 gallon per minute, and because it's energized, the customer never has to take an outage.
Over time, byproducts are formed inside transformers that decompose the insulation system. These byproducts increase the water content and can cause the transformer to overheat and eventually fail. The PSS process extends the 
transformer life by removing the contaminants that attack the transformer's insulation system and reclaiming the oil.
PSS processes hot oil continuously through the rig in a closed loop path. The oil passes through multiple filters, fuller's earth, a vacuum dehydration column and a degassing column to remove contaminants, sludge, foreign particles, dissolved gasses and oil decaying byproducts contained in the oil. The heat from the energized transformer aids in dissolving sludge buildup and removing moisture from the insulation. Thus, the customer has a clean transformer with excellent oil properties.
