PSS installs, assembles and performs hot oil vacuum-filling on large power transformers. With a background in high voltage transformer manufacturing, PSS is acutely aware of the expertise required for transformer assembly.

It is important to select a company experienced in working with substation and power transformers. PSS crews have traveled around the country servicing transformers as large as 1300 MVA and will safely commission your transformer. After PSS arrives on site, our crew will install the transformer and assemble the transformer components. Next, PSS will pull vacuum on the transformer with a 2350 cfm vacuum pump rating until the unit is filled with hot oil.

The large vacuum system promptly pulls vacuum and maximizes our ability to remove moisture and air voids in the windings. Eliminating air voids is crucial for limiting corona discharges. The vacuum time is based on the transformer rating, voltage class and the customer's specifications. PSS's oil filling procedure involves circulating the oil through our processing rigs. The oil is heated, dehydrated, degassed and filtered through fuller's earth before entering the transformer. In addition, PSS continuously analyzes and monitors the oil during the transformer filling process. The detailed process ensures that the transformer receives the highest quality oil.
